His career began as an Internal Auditor and Lecturer at the University of Maiduguri before advancing to senior roles, which include Coordinating Director at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Director of Planning and Statistics at FIRS, Chief Operations Officer at the Debt Management Office, and Special Adviser to the Minister of State for Finance. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer of Economics at Baze University, Abuja, where he also contributes to academic quality assurance, postgraduate supervision, and curriculum development. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and a full member of the Nigerian Economic Society, Dr. Maidugu has authored and co-authored numerous publications, presented papers at national and international conferences, and attended executive training at institutions such as Harvard, IMF, and NIPSS. His expertise spans macroeconomics, public finance, tax policy, and development economics, complemented by active community service and professional mentorship
